After reading Rowboat in a Hurricane, written by Vancouverite Julie Angus who rowed for 5 months across the Atlantic, I have been oddly attracted to ocean rowing (I like a good survival story).

When you’ve lived in a city for a long time, it’s nice to come across something you haven’t seen before. Transilvania Peasant Bread (3474 West Broadway) makes one item — traditional Romanian whole wheat bread baked in a wood-fired oven. The loaves look beautiful, and are super dense with a tough crust (in a good way).
